Fireplace remodel!

We have an interesting fireplace... it's in a weird spot on the wall, it's drywall, it only sticks out a couple inches and it is right next to a big hole in the wall...

I didn't take an official before picture, but you can see it here. Originally the whole wall and fireplace was white, then when we painted the wall it didn't look quite right so after a couple tries of color it ended up brown and it has been that way for a long time. We knew we were going to do something to it but never quite knew what it needed. So finally I searched the internet and gave Mike some ideas.
After a trip to Lowes the process begins...

Ta Daaaa!!! My (our) remodeled fireplace! I LOVE it!!! Mike did a GREAT job!!! I can't wait for the next project!!!

Superbowl

Our annual Superbowl party was fun and yummy as usual. I really don't care who was playing... I like the food and commercials! Here are the highlights:

We had pizza, ribs, jello, chips, dips, cheeseball, mini weinies, pop and a chocolate fountain.... great junk food! YUM!!

 Toby!

Toby had fun too and loved all the attention and food... but I think we wore him out!!

Another fun party thanks to a great family!!

Great Glendale adventure...

Mike and I did a mini escape this weekend. We took off after work on Friday and went to Cabelas!!

We did a lot of shopping and lots of looking. We even ate dinner there!
I like the aquatium there.... here is some kind of lovely sucker fish!
A HUGE catfish... that would make a catfish dinner for the whole family!!!
And of course Cabelas is filled with dead animals everywhere!!
After spending the evening at Cabelas we stayed at a great little place, the Executive Inn.
Then Saturday morning it was off to the Glendale Chocolate festival. I have always wanted to go. It wasn't just chocolate stuff... it was more like an arts and craft thing and fair food and chocolate all in one.
We did lots of looking at antique stores and eating food and then had chocolate for the grand finale! YUM!
See this thing in the bottom of the picture... it is a GIANT carmel apple completely covered in nuts and chocolate chips! WAY YUM!! So when we left Glendale we stopped at Pruitts in Phoenix. It is a HUGE furniture store and we spent a couple hours there just LOOKING!! We definitely have a wish list now! We didn't have to go far to have a great fun weekend! Thanks Mike... you're the best!!

Cow in the road...

WARNING... GRAPHIC CONTENT!!!! (kinda in the first picture.. more like hamburger in it's original form)

...There's a cow in the road and you swerve to the left
Fate skips a beat and it scares you to death....

Have you heard the Diamond Rio song about how your love makes me feel inside?... The two lines above are from the chorus. I think of that song when I think about Kristin's recent car crash... She was coming home from work at night when a cow/bull ran in front of her... She swerved to the left... Car is smooshed and so was the bull. But amazingly Kristin only got a bruise. No glass broke, the air bag didn't hit her, the cow didn't fly through the windshield..... truly there were angels working overtime that night!!!

About Me

My photo
Hi there everyone! I've noticed that a lot of people have a little life story on their blogs. So, always wanting to keep up with the latest BLOG trends, I've decided to put on a little blurb about my life for anyone that's interested. BUT, so no one is bored or has heard it all, I've put MY LIFE in ORIGINAL story form... Once upon a time there was a brown eyed girl, born of goodly parents, who set out on a journey. She traveled for a very VERY long time, through desert, mountains and forests and along the way she brought with her 6 wonderful treasures. But, alas, there were dark times, battles and dragons along the way, but she kept on going, with her treasures giving her strength and direction. Then in the desert, she met a blue eyed handsome prince, who had also been on a long long journey, and he had 2 treasures. So as you might have already guessed the ending.... the brown eyed girl and the blue eyed prince along with their treasures and a bunch more treasures, lived very happily ever after! Life is GOOD! It's party time now!
