Lunch at the park...

Before Casey had to leave, some of the fam met for lunch (yep... family=food!) at a park near my work.
Everyone sittin, eatin and chattin...

Ooohhhhh.... LOOK what's on the menu today... Pete's... Casey had never had Pete's and it has always been one of the fam's fav's!

The boys had fun watching the ducks and geese...The geese look pretty mellow out in the water...But I've gotten phone calls at work about the "attack geese" ... we stayed away from this guy! Ty had fun chasing the pigeons... can ya see the bird in flight?!? what an action shot! Ty also wanted to give the pigeons a french fry...

ALL this over ONE french fry! Crazy pigeons! (notice the birds in flight action... cool huh!)
It's always fun to go to a park and it's always fun to get together and have family visit! Great times! My only wish now is that the weather gets a LITTLE cooler... it's almost October!!!

from Brazil...

Here's the latest from Brandon... I have no idea what the GH in the picture stands for!

Oí família Happy Birthday to everyone! Even though I didn´t write happy birthday before, I still remembered everyone´s birthday. The party looked great. This week we had stake conference and it was excellent! Our stake president had a revelation that the stake has to be 3 times better in everything by the end of 2011 or the Lord won´t be very happy with them and who knows what will happen. So for two days the stake was calling everyone to repentance and that is exactly what the members need to do. The stake hasn´t grown for a year and a half, the numbers have all been the same. This week also, I saw about 30 little monkeys! They ate bannanas right out of our hands! There´s a spot in our area that´s a bit foresty and i didn´t think it had monkeys but there are a ton in there. It was pretty cool! This week it has been raining a ton!!! We also lost our electricity last night. Listen to this, me and my comp were talking and where i sit i´m right by the window and can see everything outside. We were talking and then all of a sudden a wire on the main power line exploded! It scared the crap out of me because the pole is right in front of our house and it was really loud. I saw the whole thing, it was like a huge green and blue firecraker exploded in front of our window. About half the city lost it´s power because of that one cable. Afterward it exploded 3 more times. Man, our neighborhood without power is really creepy. But when we woke up today the power was back on. It was a fun experience, it´s good they got the power back on and we didn´t have to take cold showers. I´m still healthy and doing great here in brazil. See you all later. Elder Lewis

Happy Anniversary... Again!

Yep.... I know it's crazy... but it's anniversary time AGAIN! It was 4 years ago today that Mike and I met at a singles activity out in the desert. So to celebrate such a grand occassion... I gave Mike a bag of his favorite treats...he can't wait to dig in! AND... I wrote him an ORIGINAL poem...
... I wrote it on TOILET PAPER! WHY toilet paper you ask?!? Just like to be different! Well... I had to write it on SOME kind of paper! And if he doesn't like it... he can.... recycle!
So that is how our day started! Happy happy to us!!!

Highlights of yesterday...

Yesterday was a GREAT day... we all met up at Jaron & Kristins for lot of food and fun! The crafting crew... after a yummy lunch we got serious about crafting!

We started painting some wood that we got in Utah a few months ago.

everyone is busy!

the table was FULL!

Ok... here's the scoop on this picture... the letters we were painting had a LOT of curly q's on them and it was really hard for me to see (it's the OLD thing) so I would ask Teresa to look and see if I missed any spots... and of course she had to stop what she was doing and fix it for me... thanks Teresa!

The kids played while we crafted.

My motto always is... "it won't be good unless you make a mess first!" I apply this to LOTS of things in life!

One of the finished projects.... most of us didn't QUITE get done... I am finishing up my projects today.. pics later.
Everyone just chillin after a great mexican dinner!
AND the whole reason we all got together... the birthday peeps!

Me and Braxon LOVE chocolate!

I wish I wish I wish... we blew out ALL the candles. I hope our wishes come true!

Of course there were LOTS of presents!

Thanks everyone for all the GREAT stuff!

Our day was fantastic! Can't wait for next year.... well I really can wait... don't want it to come TOO fast! We'll just HAVE to find another excuse to get together !

Today is such a special day...

Today is such a special day... it's birthday time for US!!!

Yep.... today is MY birthday AND someone else's birthday too!
So in case you didn't see yesterday's picture... it is a picture of ME a really LONG time ago.... and if you want to see more antique pictures... here's another one of me when I was about four... wearing my FAVORITE outfit... I called it my cowgirl outfit cuz it was a really cool (but we didn't even USE the word COOL then) western shirt and cowboy hat. Of course you can tell by the scenery that we lived in Arizona.

AND.... it is Braxon's birthday TOO!!! How cool is that to have a grandson born on my birthday?!?

So.... another reason it's a great day is that I don't have to go to WORK!!!!! YAY yahoo JOY JOY JOY!!!!!! So I am actually going to the grocery store on a weekday and NOT on a Saturday. It may not sound like fun to anyone else (.... OK... it may be a bit weird...) but I have my coupons and earth friendly totes all ready and I am going to ENJOY this experience!!! AND..... then I am going out of town.... to QUEEN CREEK!!! We will craft and eat and party all day! My fam is great!!!

I would also like to say a BIG happy September birthday to AIMEE

AND also, tomorrow is the birthday of our sweet angel grandson Jason.
So happy happy to all of us. AND a VERY happy birthday to everyone who is celebrating a birthday today along with me (Janae!!)... considering how OLD I am... I am probably the original September 18th birthday person. But that's OK... I'm not getting OLDER... I'm getting.... Hmmmmm ... well.... I guess I am just getting OLDER!!!! But it's a great excuse to eat CAKE!!!

From Brazil...

Here's this week's email:

Oí famíliaThis week nothing really much happened. Elder Rosin and I just had a week of working. The tile is looking pretty cool. Awesome that trent is taking a real estate class. Does it cost alot? We had interviews with President Tobias this week and it´s always fun to talk with him. President is a good guy and really funny but also has an iron fist. If you loose his trust, good luck to that missionary. This week we had an activity at the church, some of the members sang and did some skits. It was a good activity. Also, on sunday, the church `Assembléia de Deus´ put on a huge show right next to our house on the corner. The pastor was signing, drummer, guitar players, back up singers, piano, and a big sound system. They were also selling ice cream to raise money. It was funny when the pastor was talking in between the songs and screaming glory to God. We also have stake conference this saturday and sunday. The stake about 10 billion invitations and we have a huge pile that we need to give out still. You guys always ask but i still haven´t eaten anything really disgusting. I´ve come to eat just about anything believe it or not. The culture here is pretty normal, i have to think for a second to see what´s different. I´ll get back to you on that. I´m still the same concerning my body size, i´ve gained a few pounds but still fit in my pants, suit and everything. My shoes are doing great, they haven´t worn out too much and still have plenty more life in them. Do I look different to you guys in the pictures i send? Any more questions? See you all later. Elder Lewis.

Finally!!!!!

(note: this post written by Joanna with additional comment by Mike!)
FINALLY... we have started to lay tile!!!! It will take a while... but it is started and we WILL finish!!! The much anticipated first piece! Mike: These are 20 x 20 porcelain tile we bought back in February and have been stored in the garage ever since.
OF COURSE we had to buy new tools to do this project... that's OK... I like tools just as much as Mike... but he uses them more than I do... he is the MASTER with tools. Here is one of our new tools... a tile cutter. Mike LOVES it! Mike: This is SOOO much faster, neater and cleaner than using a wet tile saw on all the straight cuts. The cuts are so clean that you have to look really close to see which edge was the cut edge.

Kind of looks like hopscotch... Mike: We chose the off-set or brick pattern over the conventional square or diamond look.

We have a LONG way to go... I can't wait! Mike: The entry way is actually the most difficult portion of the tile laying project-SO many cuts and corners to deal with. Thank goodness for tile spacers!
More pictures to come... SOON!

from Brazil...

Here's the latest from Brazil. It was a day late so that's why he says I'm alive! I always get a little nervous when I don't hear from him right on time! I guess it's a MOM thing...His letter just kind of ended... so I don't know if he forgot to sign off or just had to end.

Hey eveyone I´m alive! Yesterday I didn´t have time to send an email. I was at the bus station all freakin day waiting for missionaries to show up. It was planned for them to get here in anapolis in the late morning. That didn´t happen, they didn´t show up until early evening. So me and 4 other missionaries sat there all day because they didn´t have a cell phone for anyone to call them. My new companion is Elder Rosin. He´s from Curitiba. He´s cool, he was already here in anapolis so I already know who he is kind of. the wedding and the baptism went well too. It´s good to hear that zack is liking the mission. I remember when i got to São Paulo and how everything was different. It was also crazy waiting for presidente to decide where everyone was going and then you get a little nervous when you find out where you are going to start out. Zack can just stay in brazil on his p-day and learn a prettier language and baptize more people.haha.jk. It´s still rainy here. Not much happened this past week. My old companion `died´ and is already back at his house in fortaleza. Another missionary who was going home stayed at our house his last night and the two of them really rubbed it in our faces.

Still a blob...

Well... I thought my little cold would just go away... but it decided to stay and turn into bronchitis... YUK!!! So I drug myself to the doc and got some antibiotics and stuff. So .... with the power of POSITIVE thinking.. and better drugs... I thought for SURE it will go away NOW....... but NooooOOOOoooo... So I continue to be a blob! BUT.... my blog MUST go on.... So I will update soon!

AAaaaahhhhchooooooo!!!

Well.... I drug myself out of bed... can't breathe... throat is scratchy... of course I'm NOT going to work... it's the polite thing to do... So I am sitting here looking at the computer thru blurry eyes and I have a BIG wad of tissues close at hand. Don't worry... I'm NOT posting a picture of this... it's NOT a pretty sight! I am a blob... don't feel like doing a thing... so I guess I'll go drink juice and check out daytime TV!

Happy Labor Day!

Yay it's Labor Day! Yay we have a day off! BUT... our labor day weekend was all about... laboring! But somehow laboring at home is WAY more fun than laboring at work! We did some more house projects... Mike continued on the moulding project...
I love it! That little bit of wood really makes a difference.
But besides laboring on the house and cleaning and shopping and laundry etc etc... we did take a little time out to do some yummy EATING and visit with some of the kids and watch a movie. So Happy Labor Day everyone ... I hope your weekend was fun!

Big game hunters...

For those that didn't know... this week was the opening season for dove hunting... Here are the big game hunters after a yummy breakfast, all ready to go out and bring home the food. Oh yeah... they wanted to make sure it is noted that this picture was taken at 5ish in the morning. They went hunting twice this week.... and all I want to know is... where's the meat?!?!?!?

About Me

My photo
Hi there everyone! I've noticed that a lot of people have a little life story on their blogs. So, always wanting to keep up with the latest BLOG trends, I've decided to put on a little blurb about my life for anyone that's interested. BUT, so no one is bored or has heard it all, I've put MY LIFE in ORIGINAL story form... Once upon a time there was a brown eyed girl, born of goodly parents, who set out on a journey. She traveled for a very VERY long time, through desert, mountains and forests and along the way she brought with her 6 wonderful treasures. But, alas, there were dark times, battles and dragons along the way, but she kept on going, with her treasures giving her strength and direction. Then in the desert, she met a blue eyed handsome prince, who had also been on a long long journey, and he had 2 treasures. So as you might have already guessed the ending.... the brown eyed girl and the blue eyed prince along with their treasures and a bunch more treasures, lived very happily ever after! Life is GOOD! It's party time now!
